How to use this tool

PDF to Word in three steps

  1. Open your PDF

Choose a PDF with text, pictures or scanned pages. Pictures are retained automatically. To also make English scan text editable, run Recognize text and review the recognized words.

  2. Create editable Word

Choose Create Word file. Pictures are kept as images; text, paragraphs, basic styles and aligned table cells are inferred from the current pages. Check the conversion result and any notices.

  3. Download Word

Choose Download Word, then open the .docx and compare its wording, pictures, reading order and tables with the PDF. Creating the Word copy leaves your PDF workspace and saved draft unchanged.

What to check before you share

  • One PDF up to 60 MiB and 200 pages, with up to 2 million text characters and 200 pictures. The generated Word file is limited to 20 MiB.
  • Page sizes, paragraph spacing, basic alignment, font styles and text colors are inferred. Fonts are substituted. Columns, merged cells and complex layouts can be simplified or misread; review every page and page break. Page sides must be between 0.5 and 22 inches.
  • Pictures retain their visible appearance as images and may be resized to fit Word. Overlapping pictures may be combined. Vector-only drawings, form fields and PDF comments are not converted; text overlapping pictures can appear twice.
  • Scans remain pictures unless you request English OCR for editable text too. For mixed pages with selectable text, enable recognition again to read text within pictures. OCR can miss or misread words, names and numbers; review its results.
  • Workspace annotations block conversion. Any redaction or replacement edit anywhere in the workspace also blocks conversion, so concealed source text is not extracted from those workspaces.
  • PDF text extraction can include hidden source content. A Word download is not a sanitized sharing copy; review its contents before sharing.
